The backup is the whole point
Storms that flood a sump pit are the same storms that drop the power. A primary pump with no battery backup protects you from everything except the situation it exists for. We size battery backups to realistic outage lengths and test the whole chain, float to discharge, before we leave.

Well systems: pressure problems decoded
Cycling every few seconds means a waterlogged bladder tank. No water at all is the pump, the pressure switch or the wiring, in that order of likelihood. Sputtering air means the water table or a drop pipe leak. We carry switches, tanks and common pump sizes so most well calls end with water running the same day, and we chlorinate after the work so you are not tasting the repair for a week.

Sized to the pit, the lift height and the inflow during a real storm, not the biggest box on the shelf. Oversizing causes short cycling, which wears the pump out faster than the water does.
Submersibles commonly run 10 to 15 years here. Short cycling from a failed bladder tank is what kills them early, which is why we always check the tank before condemning a pump.
